General Info

Player Classification / Player Movement: All players will be classified as Open or AAA prior to the start of the season. If it determined by the Snooker Committee that a player should be bumped up to a higher division during a season, any tournaments played to that point count towards the players’ provincial championship qualification.

Divisional Play: There is no divisional play for ranking tournaments. All players will play in a single event. Separate provincial championships will be held for Open and AAA divisions.

Match Times: If late for a match, the offending player loses one frame at match time then one frame every fifteen minutes until the player either shows up ready to play or forfeits the match. The Tournament Director shall keep the offending player "on the clock" until one or the other occurs. The Tournament Director shall have sole discretion as to whether or not a player is put "on the clock"

Rules: Current IBSF rules of snooker apply.

Fouls: All fouls will count with the exception of clothing fouls which will be handled thus: the offending player will be given one warning per match, with subsequent offenses during the same match resulting in a standard foul. A player’s opponent retains the right to call an arbitrator to judge a shot if is felt that a clothing foul may occur.

Miss Rule: Generally speaking, the miss rule will only come into effect if it is deemed that a player did not make a legitimate attempt to hit the ball on. However, the shot is deemed an automatic miss if the cue ball fails to reach the ball on (either directly or from a cushion), or if an open ball on is missed entirely.

2 - Maritime Open - top 2 finishers in Open division;
1 – Maritime Closed - top finisher in Open division;

CBSA allocates to CSNS a pre-determined number of spots to the Championships in various divisions of Snooker including Open, Women's, Senior, and Junior CSNS awards these spots to its members based on the criteria outlined above. Being awarded a spot to Nationals means a player has been endorsed by CSNS as having qualified for one of the pre-determined number of spots for Nova Scotia. Any player awarded a spot by CSNS that fails to show up for their scheduled matches at Nationals, without having first notified CSNS at least 1 week in advance of the date of the Nationals, may face disiplinary action deemed appropraite by the snooker commitee, which can include recovering costs to the association and/or suspension of the player's membership privaledges, current and future.
