The Maritime Closed Snooker Championships were held this weekend at the Century Snooker Club in New Glasgow. 13 participants took part in the Single knockout Open Division. Opening races were best of 5, bumping to best of 7 in the semi-finals, and best of 9 frames in the final. Brad Doyle of Dartmouth claimed the Open Division title with a 5-3 victory over Colin Maloney of Shubenacadie. Doyle had advanced to the final with a 4-1 win over Mike VanBuskirk of Moncton, while Maloney had earned his spot in the final with the same 4-1 score over last year's Champion Bill Martin of New Glasgow.
Dale Brimicombe of Halifax toppled Peter Borden of New Glasgow 4-2 for the title in the AAA Division. Borden made the final via Vanbuskirk in the semis, while Brimicombe shutout New Glasgow's Hugh MacEachern. There were 9 players that began the pursuit for this year's AAA crown.
