Andrew Simon Wins His Second CSNS 9-Ball of the Seaon

CSNS 9-Ball Ranking #7 was held in Sydney on March 11. Despite a nasty winter storm overnight leading into Saturday morning, 24 players still managed to venture their way to Dooly’s on Pitt Street. The usual suspect list of local heavyweights made their way to highest money spots. Richard “Buddy” Young made the A-Side final with match victories over Carleton Crysler, Landon Paul, Francis Isaac and Gerry Stevens. Young lost only 4 games total in those matches. Bill MacPherson had to grind more to arrive at the same spot, winning over Doug Brown, Terrence Sylliboy, Peter Kabatay and Andrew Simon. The match between Young and MacPherson went MacPherson’s way, taking it 9-8. On the B-Side, Mike Basque was charging through the field after initially losing to Andrew Simon in his first match. Basque strung together 5 match wins in row, capped off by defeating Gerry Stevens to leave Stevens in a tie for 5th place. Also finishing in a tie for 5th place was Hugh MacEachern, who had maintained a 4 game winning streak on the B-side himself, eventually falling to Andrew Simon. Simon went on to defeat Basque, placing Basque 4th, and then clashed with Young, with Simon coming out on top, and Young finishing 3rd. The hill-hill battles continued into the final with Simon out dueling MacPherson for the win, his second ranking event win of the season.
