Century Snooker Club hosted the 2025 Maritime Open Snooker tournament championships on 2 February. The event saw new winners for the OPEN and AAA events.
On the open side, semifinal action was down to Wayne Warner Vs Hugh MacEachern and Bruce Lilly Vs Bill Martin. Hugh came out strong with a 4-0 win over Wayne setting his place in the final. A nail biter match saw Bruce Lilly victorious over Bill Martin 4-3. Bill failed to deposit the blue ball, to get to snooker required, and unfortunately scratched. This left a tough runout with pink on the bulk rail and black on the long rail but Bruce made short work of this sending him to the final. The best of 9 final saw Bruce with a commanding lead of 4-0. Hugh was having none of that and took the next 3 Frames to get back in the match. The winning frame saw Bruce put together a couple of great runs and protect a 51-point lead with only 2 reds left. Hugh then made a tremendous long pot on a red to get back in but failed to make the color. Bruce then secured the 5-3 win by potting the last red.
On the AAA side semifinal, we saw Alton Robinson Vs Tony Siddall and Chris Kemp vs Brendon Duff. Tony came out on top with a 3-2 win and Chris took the win 3-1. The Final best of 7 final started out with Tony making tremendous pots everywhere to take the first 2 Frames. Chris then tightened up his safety play and kept the potting machine quiet and secured the next 4 frames for the 4-2 win.
