Tournament Chart:

Dooly’s Sydney hosted the CSNS Predator Tour 9 (9-Ball) and 47 eager participants arrived to square off for cash and ranking points, as well as ensuring they had enough ranking events (four are required) to qualify for the Predator finale coming up in late April at Dooly’s Portland. No live-streaming was available this time around so the Challonge bracket updates would have to suffice for those interested in how their favourite players were doing. While not many mainlanders made the trip, all four of them managed to navigate the main event and get into the final 16 redraw, but only one of them, Kyle Richard, would progress past the final sixteen.

The final four were a who’s who in top NS talent. Andrew Simon out-dueled Kyle Richard 7-5 in one semi-final while Richard “Buddy” Young ousted Clayton “Magoo” Dennis 7-4 in the other. Andrew was looking to double-up on his recent win in the previous ranking event in Truro but the race-to-7 final was looking to be a foregone conclusion as Buddy exploded out of the gate to a 5-1 lead. At 6-2 for Buddy it looked all but over, but slowly Andrew crept back into the match, including a 3-foul to level the affair at 6-all. An incredible steely-nerved runout in the decider by Andrew iced the match and the repeat was complete.

The 10-ball break contest is a highly anticipated part of the Predator events and sales on the day pushed the pot to $130/ball. Nia Joe had her ticket drawn and elected to break for herself. It looked to be the right decision as three object balls found pockets on the break, but the cue ball also got kicked into a corner pocket, turning a potential mini-windfall into a $70 consolation prize.
