On the women’s side, with 12 competitors, there were whispers of a trifecta if perennial favorite Audrey Ozon could take home a victory, having already claimed the amateur 8- and 9-ball titles earlier this season. Her work would be cut out for her though, as she fell 6-4 in the first round to recent Vegas-winner Angela Kilbride. Meanwhile, Leigh Ann Giles survived a first round, hill-hill encounter with Janet Ryan-Kemp then stamped out three more wins to get to the A-side final. Lynne Palmer had it much rougher, but she went toe-to-toe with her opponents and kept coming out a winner, finally eking out a 6-5 win over Sunshine Bernard to face Giles. Leigh Ann swept the challenge aside, however, scoring a 6-3 victory and awaited the B-side winner. All the while, Audrey had been leaving opponents in her wake in the one-loss bracket, wining four straight to get to the B-side final versus Lynne. This one was over quickly, as Audrey stamped her authority with a 5-0 win to get a chance at the title. The match was never in doubt as a 7-2 score line secured the 8/9/10-ball trifecta for Audrey, allowing her to compete in each discipline at the amateur nationals in her home town of St. John’s, Newfoundland later this year.

Women’s payouts:

1st $160 + national spot – Audrey Ozon

2nd $120 – Leigh Ann Giles

3rd $80 – Lynne Palmer

4th $40 – Sunshine Bernard
