Tournament Chart:
Port Hawkesbury played host to the Provincial Women's Amateur 8-Ball Championships this weekend and solid field 21 players kept the club hopping for the two day event. More than just titles and bragging rights were on the line as the winner would also qualify for the Amateur nationals later this year.
The women'ss draw saw some spirited matches and the A side final was a repeat of the recent amateur 10-ball finals with Audrey Ozon meeting up with Leigh Ann Giles after each having handily won their respective semi-final matches. Audrey would eventually grind out a 4-3 win and await the B side winner for the title. On the left, Ashley Denny had been pushing aside rivals from the B side. Taking four straight after being dispatched to the B side by Leigh Ann earlier in the tournament, Ashley would now face Giles again, this time in the B side final, where she held her ground with a tough 3-2 win to get a shot at the title. There she made the most of the opportunity with a 6-4 win over Audrey, making it six straight for the win!
It's a rare event where winners emerge from super deep B side runs to claim victory from the jaws of defeat. Showing grit and determination in fending off all challenges and climbing the mountain to the winners circle.
