Tournament Bracket:
The Amateur 10-ball provincial championships were held in Cape Breton this past weekend. With a big pool event in New Brunswick and the Easter bunny keeping some players at home with family. 11 women hippity-hopped their way to Dooly’s Sydney to vie for the title. In addition, the winner would receive a paid spot to the CBSA amateur nationals later this year.
The women’s division was small but exciting in the level of play produced from its players, with the two finalists getting there by contrasting means. Ashley Denny made her way undefeated through the A side with a 6-4 win over Tara Sylliboy to await the B side winner. Desiree Marshall’s road to the final would take a different path, however. Playing the day with a cast on her arm, she dropping her first match then rattled off five straight victories, including relegating Sylliboy to a respectable third place finish, on the way to reaching the final. Desiree’s momentum continued and carried her through to a 7-4 score line over Denny to claim her first amateur 10-ball title.
Many thanks to Erin Mac Isaac and the staff at Dooly’s Sydney for hosting our event and to the many hands of the tournament committee who kept the event running smoothly throughout the weekend.

1st - $115 – Desiree Sylliboy + national spot
