The newly renovated Doolys Kempt Road played host today to the 7th Metro Leagues Memorial 8-Ball tournament. The event was created in 2007 to honor all deceased members of our three local leagues - Metro, Ladies and Mixed.

With 44 players entered, a random draw was held for partners resulting in 22 teams for the day. The event is special in that there is no prize money allocated to the tournament - the $10 entry fee from each player forms part of an overall donation package to a charity of the winning team's choice. Plaques for the top three teams were donated by the Metro Pool League.

Included with the entry fees were monies raised from a 50/50 draw and a cue raffle (the cue being graciously donated for the event by Mike Cullymore). A total of $700 was raised throughout the day. Also during the day, Doolys held a 50/50 draw with the proceeds donated to the Central Spryfield school's breakfast program.

Back to the main event, the A side final would see Gillian Letzer + Rob Millard matching up against Janet Ritcey + Jeff Teas. Unfortunately, a bit of local snow saw snow plow operator Jeff getting called in early to work, which left the team unable to continue and having to settle for third place. So the final match would see Gillian + Rob squaring off with Tracey Goodyear + Brian McNamara . The one set final was hotly contested but over in short order with Gillian + Rob coming out on top.

The winners chose the Heart & Stroke Foundation as their charity to donate to.

Thanks are due to Amanda and her fantastic staff at Doolys Kempt and Brian McNamara for live streaming the event all day (check out "Brian's Cuesport Streams" on facebook). Many thanks also to the folks who helped run the event - Craig Teal, Glenn Nickerson, Paul Gunn and Janet Ritcey. You folks make it look easy!
