Tournament Bracket:

67 players came outta the woodwork for the annual 2-point tournament at Dooly's Portland Street in Dartmouth.

Two time defending champ Nok Mantolino was dispatched to the B side in his first match by another Filipino top prospect Bruce "Batman" Abadilla , but still managed to claw through to the money rounds before bowing out to newcomer Guy Tremblay.

Meanwhile, Abadilla and Craig Teal charged through the A side to determine who would occupy the hot seat. Abadilla took the first two games but an untimely scratch in game three gave Teal an opening, and he went on to post a 3-2 victory.

Tremblay had been quietly picking apart the B side, and a win over 4th-place finisher Randy Demont set up a semi-final match with Abadilla. Once again Abadilla jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the steely resolve of Tremblay saw him take the next three games to relegate Abadilla to third place.

Tremblay would have to beat Teal twice in the final of the true double knockout format, and a 3-0 win in the first match set up a winner-take-all second set. After trading the first two games, Tremblay closed out the match posting a 3-1 scoreline to claim the title.

Tremblay not only won the tournament but also a spot at the upcoming Canadian 8-ball championships later this year in Toronto. We know Guy will enjoy that experience and represent the league well!

Many thanks are due to Tracey Goodyear and the staff at Doolys Portland for hosting our event. Thanks also to the Billiard Shop for providing prizes for the players, and a shout out to Tony McQuaid for kicking in some additional prizes. Hats off to Glenn Nickerson and Craig Teal, who helped out with running the tournament as well as playing, not an easy task by any means. (Keith Tyler, what can we say, you tried! lol) A special thank you also to Danny Fortune, who brought in photo albums of many previous years, which players had a chance to look through and enjoy some of the history of the league. We look forward to seeing even more players at the upcoming Partner's tournament on April 23rd at Doolys Burnside.
