The "Women's" Gunn Show V held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Dooly's Portland St. saw 28 very talented women come out to compete for top spots. There was no shortage of action that day and players Janet Ritcey, Tracey Goodyear, Chris Oickle, and Connie Reid plowed their way through the "A" Side matches, with Chris O. and Connie R. being sent to the "B" side after matches on the "A" side. Both of these players gave it their all by fighting back through to make it into the money before their fight was ended.
One player I would like to mention is Mary Anne Corkum, she was forced to the "B" side early and did she ever play to make it into the final battle for 3rd place battling Tracey G. and losing 3-1, but what a go she gave and I/many are very proud of her 🙂
All I can say is that you all played amazing and many fought their way through some strong opponent's, but just came short. I have to admit that running Women's events is a different experience for me "in a great way". When you are just hanging out, you joke around and have everyone laughing, but when it comes to the game, you are all business and that is so impressive and so happy I can spend the day with such an amazing group of Women. 🙂
The semi's were a nail biter for sure with Janet and Tracy pairing up, only to have Tracey dispatched to the "B" side after a hill hill match. After Tracey's win over Mary Anne, she returned to the waiting Janet to go at it a second time. After some very impressive playing, Janet came out on top with a 5-3 win. A huge thank you goes out to Brian M. from Brian's Cuesport Streams for streaming all of the action to those at home, your dedication and professionalism is appreciated by all. 🙂
The 50/50 draw went well and we raised $140.00 to be split between The Canadian Cancer Society & Portland Dooly's "Breakfast Program", thank you to all of the players and patrons of the bar for buying tickets that day.
Lastly, thank you to Dale B. for coming in for awhile that day to help get everything going while I did the 50/50, draws and other duties. To Alex/Heather who was running the bar in Jen Reid's absence (as she was playing in another event) and all of the staff of Dooly's Portland St. for the amazing venue and service, you all did great. And to all of the players for helping support these events, without you, there would be no tournaments like this. 🙂
