The provincial Women's Open 9-Ball championships were contested this past weekend at Dooly's Truro with 18 women looking to claim the title and national spot.

Four-time champion Janet Ritcey once again found herself in the final after a 6-2 hotseat win over Angie Kilbride. Angie then relegated Audrey Ozon to a respectable third place finish with a 5-2 win to set up a rematch with Janet in the final. Angie jumped out to a 3-1 lead but Janet quickly tied it up at 3-3. Angie took the next three games to get to the hill first at 6-3 but Janet’s experience and patience showed in spades as she snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, winning the next four games to emerge a 7-6 winner.

Thanks to the management and staff at Dooly's Truro for hosting our event this year; to Brian McNamara and Brian's Cuesport Streams for a great weekend of coverage; and to the many tournament officials who made time to ensure the event ran efficiently throughout the weekend.

Women's payouts:

1st - $260 + Paid National Spot - Janet Ritcey

2nd - $195 - Angela Kilbride

3rd - $130 - Audrey Ozon

4th - $65 - Tracey Goodyear
