On 13 April, a total of 51 players showed up to Port Hawkesbury Dooly's for the final ranking event of the 2023-2024 Predator Cue Sports Nova Scotia Tour season. The event was 9 ball, race to 7 on the a side and race to 5 on the b side. All single elimination redraw matches with 16 players were race to 7 with the final being one race to 9. It was raining outside but everyone was hoping it was going to be raining balls on the break on the inside. There were no less than 15 hill-hill matches to make the entire day exciting.
First up to talk about was the 10 ball Break contest which was at $410 per ball. Patrick MacDonald from Port Hawkesbury had his ticket drawn and chose to have Ryan Kendall make the attempt. Ryan made a ball on the break earning $410 but missed the opening shot on the 1 ball. Congratulations Patrick and Ryan and major thanks to everyone for their support on this! The next 10 Ball Break contest will be held at the Open 9 Ball Provincials at Sydney Dooly's on 4-5 May and the prize will be an amazing amount of $550 per ball!
Next up is was our beautiful Predator Aspire 1-2 cue raffle. The raffle draw was done at the event and Steve LaDelpha from Sackville was the winner. Congratulations Steve! Thanks for everyone's support on this as well. We will be starting another Predator cue raffle and a Predator Revo shaft raffle very soon so watch for all of the details on here.
For all of the final 16 single elimination redraw matches and onward we had the privilege of using the Predator Arcos balls and Predator Aeroracks. It is an absolute pleasure to play with such great equipment.
Now for the main event, the two finalists were Ryan Kendall and myself(Kyle Richard). Ryan had wins over Bruce Lilly, Neil Van Rossum, and Craig Teal to get to the final 16 redraw. In the single knock out stage he had wins over Clayton Dennis, Alladin Aquino, and Colin Maloney to reach the final.
I was able to acquire wins over Hugh MacEachern and Bill MacPherson to get into the final 16 redraw. In the single knock out stage I was fortunate to earn victories against Robert Williams, Nick Kaiser and Dale Brimicombe to reach the final. The final match was very close and could have went either way but I was able to get across the finish line with a 9-6 win. Great shooting Ryan, keep working hard! Fantastic shooting to all of the top 16 money winners but special mention to Kristin Mattatall and Brendan MacEachern who are in the 451-550 fargo group and Francis Sampson who is in the under 450 fargo group.
Due to the number of tables and the size of the field we decided to evenly distribute the top 3 prizes for each fargo group and not hold the second chance events.
For the under 450 fargo group the 3 winners who went the farthest before the money line in the main event were: Kevin Connors $70, Ryo Michibata $70 and Brian Johnston $70.
For the 451-550 fargo group the winners who went the farthest before the money line in the main event were: Josh Boutilier $70, Jim Van Rossum $70 and Adam MacRae $70.
Congratulations!
