Jon Kynock snapped off his first snooker tournament win on Sunday with a 3-0 waxing of veteran Walter Somers in the Metro region AAA ranking event at Maritime Billiards in Dartmouth. Kynock had trailed 0-2 in his first match but bore down for a 3-2 comeback win over Dave Boymook, then took 3-0 and 3-1 wins over Dale Brimicombe and Randy Corey respectively to book his place in the final. Somers posted a 3-1 win over Steve Hipson then downed Ed Skinner 3-0 before bowing out in the penultimate match against the youngster Kynock. Skinner was admittedly worn down from his Open final a day earlier, but still carried some momentum into Sunday's event as he knocked in a tournament high run of 68 in his first frame of the day against Glen Lynch before running out of steam in the semi-finals.
