Tournament Bracket::
Brian's CueSport Streams:
Doolys Port Hawkesbury played host to Predator CSNS Ranking 8 (9-Ball) and 47 players made the trek in very windy, and in the case of northern Cape Breton, snow drifts and whiteout conditions. The event saw a double knockout play down to a final 16 single knockout redraw, and while most of the top players rated made it through, for some it was a circuitous route. Three players - Clayton Dennis, Shane Crawford and Terrence Sylliboy - all lost their opening matches but each reeled off three straight wins to get back into the redraw. The final four saw Colin Maloney oust Richard Young 7-2 while Doug Brown eked out a 7-5 win over Peter Doucette. Maloney, recently returned from vacation down south, then proved sand and sun are a remedy for tournament success with a 7-1 drubbing of Brown in the final.
Bill MacPherson had his ticket drawn for the 10-ball break contest which sat at $420/ball and was hoping for a repeat of several years ago when he broke and ran the rack. He started off well, making the one and five balls on the break and getting a reasonable shot on the two ball. The three was a little tied up down table and rather than cinch the two, he tried the tougher shot, hitting it hard and trying to post on the three. Alas, it was not to be as he missed the two and settled for $840 for his efforts. The next 10-ball break will be at ranking event #9 at Doolys Burnside next month where expected sales will push the pot once again to over $400/ball.
Ticket sales on the latest cue raffle package sold out on the day as well. Two cues - a Predator Aspire 1-4 and 1-5, each valued at over $600 - were drawn for and the lucky winners were Kyle Richard and Leon Sylliboy. Congrats to you both!
Many thanks to our title sponsor Predator for suppying Arcos balls and racks for the event; to Melanie, Lindsay and the staff at Doolys Port Hawkesbury for hosting our event; to Brian McNamara for his always popular live-stream services; and to the many hands of the tournament committee who kept things running smoothly throughout the day.
