Brian's Cuesport Streams:
This is going to be a longer post, but we had so much going on at The 4th Annual Mille Gunn Memorial Pool Tournament held at Dooly's Portland St. on Saturday, June 1st, I have to share it all lol :)
It makes my heart very happy that Mom's Tournament is growing every year now and 78 amazing people/players came out Saturday to celebrate Mom's life, have lots of fun, and help raise money for The Canadian Cancer Society.....and boy did we ever. My opening speech during the players meeting was a bit long as there were so many people to thank for their contributions to help make the event a success, getting to share my story about my Mom helps to heal the heart and expresses how important it is to cherish every moment you have with the ones you love...because it can change so quickly (and I held it together for the entire speech this time lol).
Just from the $5.00 donation from all the entry fee's, we made $390.00. Dale B., Craig T. and Glenn N. were such an amazing help running the sheets while I was trying to assign the 49 giveaway prizes donated by the amazing businesses and individuals for the players who came out. Angela Tyler and her beautiful soul volunteered her day and sold a ton of tickets for the 3 Grand Prizes we had this year, and helped me to focus on other things to be done. We ended up bringing in $735.00 from the grand prizes and Jheno Francisco won the beautiful Viking pool cue donated by The Billiard Shop in Halifax. Sue Dupuis won the Elite Pool Cue Case/$50.00 Billiard Shop gift card donated by Shannon LeBlanc of Hallmark Dental Laboratory Ltd in Halifax. Melissa Eisenhauer and "the other winner is unknown yet as Melissa was holding their ticket after they left" won the two 3 hour pool instruction lessons by PBIA Master Instructor Kyle Richard. These were some very lucky winners for sure.
The first 50/50 Draw that Glenn N. helped me a great deal with totaled $750.00, and the lucky winner was Kyle R. getting $375.00, and being the amazing person he is donated $125.00 back totaling $500.00 for The Canadian Cancer Society (thank you my friend). I did do a second 50/50 on Sundays final day and raised $50.00, as a thank you to Melissa and her great venue, I split the money between The Cancer Society and The Dooly's Portland St. "Breakfast Program". The 2 beautiful Silent Auction items created and donated by Gaylene Simms (Owner and CEO at Dreamm MAXX Cosmetics) raised $170.00 and were won by Keith Tyler and Kim Hobbs, Gaylene did a beautiful job and thank you for all your hard work putting them together for this special day :) The final total with donations from the donation box and all of the amazing items described above, helped raise $2,100.00 just from Mom's Event, giving us $2,900.00 of the $4,200.00 goal set for this year....that is a record and thank you so much to everyone who gave :)
The player's were having a ton of fun getting to socialize throughout the day, but they also came there to make it into the top 16 spots that we were paying out for, and to get the 1st place spot and $415.00. As we happily exceeded the 60 players which made it a 2 day Tournament, the field continued battling it out until we cut it off just after 10 pm on Saturday evening, leaving the top 6 players (Chris P., Colin M., Chad D., Guy T., Jeff S., and Kris D.) to go after first place on Sunday morning.
The battles on the 2nd day were just great to watch and no-one was giving the other a break and those watching Brian's Cuesport Streams had a front row seat on it all :) It came down to Chris Penney and Colin Macdonald for the final 2 and they were going back and forth with their nail-biting match, Chris was going for the win when he suffered an equipment failure and Colin brought it to a 6-6 on a race to 7, but the final game gave Chris P. another chance and he cashed in by winning 7-6, it was just amazing watching these two in the end and a heck of a way to end an amazing Tournament. :)
I would like to thank Melissa Eisenhauer and the amazing staff at Dooly's Portland St. for looking after me and my crew (and for adding the $100.00 into the players pot with me), and all of the amazing players who came out to support my cause. Thank you to Angela Tyler for dedicating her day to me for selling the grand prize tickets and making lots of money, and I got to spend the day with her and good friend Keith Tyler, thank you and love ya both. Thank you to my Gunn Show Team of Dale Brimicombe and Brian McNamara for always being there for me, and to Craig Teal for helping again this year, and Glenn Nickerson for helping for this year's event......if it were not for you all, it would run as smooth as it did, you are all amazing people and lucky to have you as friend's. Big shoutout to Gaylene S. for your contribution, and all of the companies/individuals who donated items to make it an even more special day, many walked away with something and its all about you having fun and a token of my appreciation for supporting me.
Lastly, Thank you so much to each and every one of you who gave up your day to come out and support a very important event/day for me.....I was beyond happy and love doing this for you all :) We will keep it growing each year for sure :)
