MavDonald Out Duels Maloney At CSNS Ranking #6

CSNS Ranking Event 6 of 9 was held February 11 at Doolys Burnside. There were 41 players in the Open Division, and an additional 12 Ladies taking part in their own bracket. 8-Ball was the game for event 6.


The Open Division was a tale of two Colin’s, each making their own way to the final in different fashion.


Colin MacDonald reached the final undefeated, getting the better of Steve Burt 5-1, Dale Brimicombe 5-1, Adam Cormier 5-4, Randy Demont 5-3, Justin D'Eon 5-3, and Craig Teal 5-1.


Colin Maloney beat Bob Miklos 5-1 in his opening match, but then fell to Riley MacDonald by the same 5-1 score. Maloney rattled off 7 wins on the B-Side over Janet Ritcey 5-3, Chad Davis 5-0, Demont 5-1, Jon Kynock 5-3, Jim Rhodenizer 5-1, D’Eon 5-3, and Teal 5-4.


The hour having past midnight when the final was set to begin, the Colin’s decided to play an abbreviated set to 3. Maloney came out on top 3-0 over MacDonald.

7-8 - Adam Cormier, Jon Kynock

9-12 - Bruce Lilly, Darrell Abolit, Randy Demont and Riley MacDonald


In the Ladies division Gillian Letzer made the final via the A-Side, taking down Tracey Goodyear 4-0, Saline Penney 4-2, Lynne Palmer 4-3, and Dana Luddington 4-1.


Goodyear and Luddington battled as the last players on the B-Side bidding to get to the final with Goodyear being successful 4-0.


The final saw Letzer clip Goodyear for the second time on the day, this time 5-3, to take 1st place.

Peter Giles had his ticket drawn for the 10-Ball Break and Run contest for a chance at a $660 pot. However a dry break by Giles meant the pot will carry over to the next event. Giles earned $40 as a consolation prize.


The next CSNS ranking event (9-Ball) will be held March 11 at the Century in New Glasgow.
