Tournament Chart:

The 2024 CSNS Amateur Provincial 10-Ball Champion was crowned on Sunday April 21 at Doolys Kempt Rd. Ryan Kendall captured his first Provincial title with a 9-5 victory over Wayne Thibodeau in the final.

The event was contested over 2 days, with 49 players beginning on day one. The format was double knockout, races to 7, with final being one race to 9. It was a long first day, but the field was whittled to 8 players to return on Sunday morning.

The last two matches of undefeated players saw Thibodeau down Craig Teal 7-3, while Kendall bounced Christian Mantolino 7-3. Thibodeau and Kendall then battled to a hill-hill decider in the A-Side final, where Kendall was poised to take the match, but a miscalculation resulted in a scratch at the finish line, handing Thibodeau the hot seat as the last undefeated player.

On the B-Side, action began with Brett Abadilla beating Jim Rhodenizer 7-5, and Neil Van Rossum sending Carleton Crysler to the rail 7-2. Teal then disposed of Abadilla 7-5, leaving Abadilla tied for 5th. Also finishing in 5th place was Van Rossum, after losing to Mantolino 7-5. Next, Teal was able to advance to the B-Side final with a 7-5 outcome over Mantolino. It was there Kendall re-booked another shot at Thibodeau, stamping out Teal with authority 7-2.

Kendall, a finalist in 3 ranking events this season, was in top form by this time. Thibodeau, the odds favourite to win when the tournament began, could not slow Kendall’s momentum, allowing Ryan to reach the hill first, following a break & run by Kendall in game thirteen, to lead 8-5. In the fourteenth game, as in their previous meeting, there was an uncharacteristic mistake resulting in a scratch on the 10-Ball, this time by Thibodeau, sealing the 9-5 match win for Kendall.

Ryan Kendall has earned paid entry to represent Nova Scotia at the 2024 CBSA Amateur Nationals to be held at a date and venue yet to be determined later this year.

Congratulations to Ryan Kendall and Wayne Thibodeau on their fantastic performances all weekend. Well deserved finalists!
