The latest edition of the Predator CSNS ranking tournaments saw 51 players show up ready to do battle as Doolys Sydney played host to Event 4 (9-ball). A large percentage of the field was from Cape Breton with only eight from the mainland making the trip, but four of those eight made it through the starting double knockout section to get to the final 16 single knockout redraw. In the end there were a couple new faces in the final four as Keir Sylliboy and Laurie MacDonald made it to the semi-finals. The one-set, race to 8 final saw a resurging Terry MacInnis squaring off against Kyle Richard who had been struggling of late to regain his form from last year. Terry shot out to an early 4-1 lead then added two of the next three to lead 6-2, however Kyle grinded his way back into the match, winning five of the next six games to get it to hill-hill. A safety battle ensued off the final break with both players resorting to jump shots to get out of snookers. Terry made a great long table jump to make the one-ball and posted for shape on the two, however after making the two, left himself hooked on the three. Terry's failure to navigate a two-rail hit on the three gave Kyle ball in hand and he calmly worked his way through the balls to win the penultimate rack and seal his first ranking event of this season, taking over first place in the rankings in the process.

The 10-ball break is always a big deal at the ranking events and this one was no exception, with huge ticket sales during the day bringing the pot to $675/ball. Ryan Kendall was the lucky one to get his ticket drawn and promptly pocketed two balls on the break. No shot on the next ball saw him try to get creative with a kick shot but to no avail, settling for $1350 for his efforts. The next ten ball break will be at event 5 in New Glasgow with expected sales likely to push the pot to over $600/ball once again.
