Tournament Chart:
The Maritime Closed Snooker Tournament was contested this past weekend at Century Snooker Club in New Glasgow. 16 players entered the main draw and when play halted after Saturday play there were four remaining for the semi-finals on Sunday.
On one side, local favorite Hugh MacEachern defeated host Billy Martin in a see-saw battle that went to the wire. Needing a snooker with only pink and black remaining, MacEachern forced an error from Martin then cleaned up the last two colors to win 5-4 and book a place in the final. On the other side of the draw, Truro's Wayne Warner sped to a 5-0 victory over veteran Don Latter. The final was a tight one with Warner getting by MacEachern by a 5-3 score line. With the victory, Warner also secured a spot in the 2024 Canadian championships. MacEachern picked up the high run prize with a break of 61 in his first frame of the tournament.
Thanks to club owner Billy Martin and the staff at Century for hosting and tournament director Michael Nicksy for organizing. A shout out also to the Metro Pool League for sponsoring the high run in each event.
