NS REPRESENTS AT CCS NATIONAL 8/9 BALL


The CCS National 8-Ball and 9-Ball Championships were held in Niagara Falls, ON from March 15-19th, 2017. Nova Scotian’s enjoyed considerable success this year. Here is a recap of those individuals and teams that “cashed” in the various events.

9-BALL DIVISIONS (All Play - Handicapped Races)

Women’s 9-Ball Team Ca$H Falze placed 2nd , earning $240. Team members were Shauna Boyle, Kelly Brimicombe, Darlene Seward and Angela Belding.

Dave Boone finished 2nd, for $100, in 9-Ball Singles Second Chance tournament, losing to Dan Devos Jr of Ontario.

Team Nok Offf #1, consisting of Pat Briand, Dave Boone, and Brian White, won the Second Chance event in Mixed 9-Ball Teams, good for $180.

ADVANCED 8-BALL DIVISIONS

In Advance Women’s 8-Ball Singles, Janet Ritcey took home top honors and $700, defeating Angela Belding in the final. Ritcey was a previous runner-up in this event in 2007.

In Advanced Scotch Doubles 8-Ball, Dave Boone and Angela Belding paired to capture the title, to go with $400 cash, defeating Leslie Pasieka and Wayne Dwyer, Ontario, in the final.

Brian White and Janet Ritcey came 3rd in Advanced Scotch Doubles, making $100.

OPEN 8-BALL QUALIFYING EVENTS

Kelly Brimicombe was runner-up in the Women’s Open 8-Ball Singles Qualifying event, earning her $100 and promotion to the Advanced Women’s 8-Ball Bracket. Brimicombe lost to Melissa Grossett of Ontario.

Women’s 8-Ball Team Halifax Explosion won the Women’s Open 8-Ball Team Qualifying event, receiving $400 and promotion to the Advanced Division Bracket. Team members were Jennifer Rowden, Katt Evans, Janet Ritcey, Amber Thorpe and Leigh Ann Giles.

OPEN 8-BALL DIVISIONS

Team Ca$H Falze were winners of the Women’s Open 8-Ball Teams. Shauna Boyle, Kelly Brimicombe, Darlene Seward and Angela Belding made $1300 to go along with their title.

In Open 8-Ball Men’s Singles Leo Sanchez secured an impressive 3rd place finish, and $500, only dropping matches to finalists Mike Gallagher Jr and Wes Bright, both of Ontario.

Peter Kabatay, after first winning the Standard 8-Ball Qualifier for $350, was promoted and went on to take 5th place in the Open 8-Ball Singles, earning another $125.

STANDARD 8-BALL DIVISIONS

In Standard 8-Ball Singles, Greg Lockwood was crowned champion, to go with $1300 for first place, beating Matt Wagar of Peterborough ON in the final.

Ryan Kendall made $100 for 9th place finish in the Standard 8-Ball Singles Division.

In Standard 8-Ball Mixed Teams Division, Unama’ki Legends claimed first prize $1350. Team members were Jay Morris, Joel Morris, Peter Kabatay, Ryan Kendall, Keir Sylliboy, and Carl Sampson.

Also in the Standard 8-Ball Mixed Teams, The Halifax Explosion fought to a 3rd place finish and $800. The team consisted of Dan Buchanan, Leo Sanchez, Bob Miklos, Wayne Bishop and Dana Murphy.
