With two regional events running simultaneously in Dartmouth and New Glasgow, snooker this year looks to be in great shape in Nova Scotia once again!
Rick Leon defeated Brian White 3-1 in the finals of the first Open snooker ranking event in the Metro region. Leon dominated the field with four runs over 64, one in each of the four matches he played. This was capped off by a break of 96 in which he jawed a tough blue in the black corner playing shape on the last red along the side rail, narrowly missing out on a century break.
Jon Kynock took the Metro AAA snooker ranking event with a 3-1 defeat over Ed Skinner in the finals.
In New Glasgow, Hugh MacEachern picked up right where he left off last season, drawing first blood by besting Bill Matheson in the Open Final 4-2.
The Northwestern AAA Snooker was captured by Peter Borden, winning over Herb Watters in the final.
It was great to see some younger players getting into the game, as well as some of the older guard returning to play.
