Nowlan and Doiron Final At 2019 Jack Williston Memorial Invitational

The annual Jack Williston Memorial Invitational 9-Ball event once again kicked off the Eastern Canadian 9-Ball weekend in Moncton, NB. This year, invitations were limited those players in the Atlantic Provinces. Once acceptances were finalized, the resulting field was 7 Nova Scotians and 9 players from New Brunswick. The format is best 3 of 5 sets, each set being a race to 5 games. The initial two rounds of matches in the single knockout event concluded on Friday night, leaving 4 New Brunswick players in the semi final matches when play resumed on Saturday. In the first semi-final Ashley Nowlan dispatched last year's winner, Matt Crawford, in straight sets 3 to nil.

Meanwhile in the second semi-final, Stephan Doiron out paced the Chris Dempsey 3 sets to 1. The hour was getting late by the time the finals were to start. After a grueling day of pool already behind them, the two finalists decided to split the money and played an abbreviated set for the title, which was won by Nowlan, representing his 2nd career title in this elite event.
