On 6thJuly 2024 twenty six Players took to the tables at Dooly’s Portland for the Straight Pool Provincials. It was a learning experience for a lot of players but overall, everyone enjoyed this great game. Craig Teal bested Chad Davis 75 to 64 and Darrell Abolit won over Dale Young 75 to 63 to confirm their spots in Sunday's final 4. Congratulations Dale Young and Chand Davis on your 5th 6th finish. Nok Mantolino won over Colin Maloney in the A side final and both players would return Sunday for the final 4.

Darrell Abolit and Craig Teal started the first Sunday round with a very tight match until Teal had a very uncharacteristic miss and left Abolit in with the balls spread out. Abolit finished the rack but left the cue ball below the re-rack to give himself a cross side on the game ball. Narrowly missing this Teal came back in but, due to an unforced error on a safety, left the game ball for Abolit to deposit in the corner pocket and secure the match 75 to 67. Congratulations to Crag Teal on the Fourth-place finish.

Darrell Abolit moved on to meet Colin Maloney where the winer of this match would go back to the A side to lock horns with Nok Mantolino who was patiently waiting. Maloney off to a slow start got out of shape on the last ball before the re-rack twice early in the match. Abolit potted well but left Maloney in amongst the balls on a few difficult safety attempts. Maloney’s shape on the final ball improved dramatically allowing him to secure the win 75 to 46. Congratulations Darrell Abolit on your 3rd place finish.

The final match started with an epic saftey battle giving both players only small runouts until they were both around the 50 point mark. Nok Mantolino then turned on the runout machine and secured the win 100 to 52. Congratulations to Colin Maloney on the 2nd place finish and to Nok Mantolino for the win and this years Straight pool provincial champion. Nok Mantolino also secured the high run pot with a 37.

I would like to thank Dale Brimicombe for taking care of the financial side and Craig Teal for getting the Challonge draw sheet set up and running. Also, a big thank you to Paul Gunn for helping with the tournament sheet and selling raffle tickets. As well, many thanks to Wayne Thibodeau for helping out with rule clarification's, much appreciated by all. Special thanks to Colin Maloney for donating $50.00 to the high run pot. To all the players who came out to support this event THANK YOU!
