The 2024 provincial Open 8-Ball championships held this past weekend at Doolys Truro saw 64 men and 19 women competing for prize money, trophies and spots to the 2025 CBSA nationals.
The women's final saw the combatants play down to a clash between the last two winners of the women's amateur 8-ball provincials. In the end it was Audrey Ozon, who has been tearing up women's pool in Nova Scotia AND Las Vegas this past year, eking out a hotly contested 7-6 win over Ashley Denny to put another notch in her six-gun handle. As they say - nice shootin' Tex!
Special thanks to Tracey Goodyear and staff at Doolys Truro for hosting and ensuring the players had a great experience; to Brian McNamara for live streaming the event (see Brian's Cuesport Streams on YouTube for this and other great local pool coverage); to the CSNS event staff who all chipped in helping with organizing, ticket sales and running the draw sheets, making the event run smoothly and efficiently for such a large crowd.
Womens division:
1st - $160 + paid spot - Audrey Ozon
2nd - $100 Ashley Denny
3rd - $60 Chris Oickle
4th - $40 Tracey Goodyear
5/6 - $20 Lynne Palmer, Tara Sylliboy
