Dempsey Sails To Third Eastern Canadian 9-Ball Title Capturing 2019

The 2019 Eastern Canadian 9-Ball Championship drew 103 players, the most in 15 years for the October Thanksgiving weekend. The edition featured 12 groups for the first stage of round robin on Saturday, with the top 4 finishers from each group advancing to Stage 2 Final 48 Double Knockout phase on Sunday. Play would whittle down to the final 6 players, who would complete play on Monday. In the 5th/6th place matches, Jason Robichaud, NB, moved past Mike O'Neill, NB, 11-9, and Dave Boone, NS, beat Mike Henderson, NB, 11-6. Robichaud got past Boone 11-4 in the next match, leaving Boone in 4th. Chris Dempsey, NB and Joe McIntyre. NB, locked in battle on the A-Side, with McIntyre coming away the winner 13-9, leaving Dempsey to go to the B-Side to match up with Robichaud. That match went right to the wire, but Dempsey managed to pull out the 13-12 win and a second chance at McIntyre. In the Final, Dempsey proved too much for McIntyre, capturing his 3rd Eastern Canadian 9-Ball Title with a strong 15-7 performance.
