Doolys Burnside recently hosted 78 players for CSNS Predator Tour #7. The 8-ball double knockout bracket was played down to a 32-player single knockout redraw. Play was fast and furious with race to 4 on A and B side due to the large field and having to be played in one day.

Lots of big names hit the left side of the chart early, including the always dangerous Colin MacDonald and Nok Mantolino, who both managed to make the redraw before bowing out in the top 16. Two other up-and-comers were making their mark as well. Justin D’Eon climbed another rung higher on the ladder than his last event as he was finally halted in the semi-finals by Jody Swim. Shane Crawford, who made the previous tour final, was kept from repeating the feat by Kyle Richard, to set up a finals duel between the two best players in Nova Scotia. Jody quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead but Kyle’s never-say-die attitude kicked in as he played great run-outs and incredible safeties to climb all the way back and eke out a 4-3 victory.

The 10-ball break contest is a major feature of the Predator events and one our major fundraisers to help send players to the nationals each year. After huge sales on the day, the pot was sitting at $705/ball and just begging for someone to claim more than just a small chunk of the overall prize. Peter Doucette had his ticket drawn and promptly smashing in three balls on the break. What a start! With over $2100 already in the bank and a wide open table, Peter methodically worked his way through the rack, with the cheers from the crowd getting louder with each dropped ball. He made it all the way to the ten ball before missing, pocketing a cool $6345! Cue up at 6:59 to watch the break here:

Many thanks to Predator for their continued sponsorship of our tour; to Jessica Lee and the staff at Dooly’s Burnside for hosting our event; to Brian McNamara and Brian's Cuesport Streams for the live stream coverage throughout the day; and to the many hands of the tournament committee who kept the event running smoothly throughout the day.
