Tournament Chart:

Cue Sports Nova Scotia began the 2023-24 pool season at Doolys Port Hawkesbury on September 28th, which was Truth and Reconciliation Day in Nova Scotia. We acknowledge that we participate in Mi’kma’ki (MEEG-MA-GEE), the traditional (or ancestral) territory of the Mi’kmaq people. Cue Sports Nova Scotia is privileged to have a diverse membership. As visitors on this land, we are humbled to compete alongside our players of Indigenous communities.

A field of 28 players had a go at the Open portion of the ranking event. Another 6 ladies vied against each other in a separate ladies event.

In the Open, a slightly new format was introduced this season, where the last 4 players of 32 and under Double Knockout field would be re-drawn for Single Knockout final play. Reaching this stage as the 2 undefeated players on the A-Side were Kyle Richard and Mike Cullymore. Joining them as the remaining 2 players on the B-Side were Bruce Lilly and Magoo Stevens. The B-Side players were redrawn into the A-Side players to continue. In one semi final, Kyle edged past Bruce 7-6, while in the other semi-final, Magoo got the better of Mike 7-5. The final match was one extended race, which Kyle captured 9-4 over Magoo.

The ladies decided on a round-robin format, playing each other races to 5, with the top 2 finishers moving on to the final match. Audrey Ozon went a perfect 5 for 5 match wins in the round robin stage. Two women won 3 of their 5 matches, requiring the tie breaker to come into play. Tracey Goodyear had the best plus minus, moving her on to the final, leaving Sherisse Sylliboy in 3rd place. In the final match, Tracey triumphed over Audrey 5-3.

Dale Brimicombe had his ticket drawn to try his skill at the 10-Ball Break & Run contest. Dale was striving to capture $100 per ball, a full $1000 pot if he could run the rack. Unfortunately, Dale came up empty on the break. He still got $40 for his efforts. The Pot will remain at $1000 at the next event.

The next ranking tournament will be 8-Ball on Oct 14th at Foolys Portland
