The 2026 CCS Canadian Championships were held from March 16th-21st in Niagara Falls at the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel.  Competition consisted of 8-Ball and 9-Ball events in Singles, Doubles and Teams, with divisions for women and mixed participation, separated into skill levels.

There was a solid representation of players from across Nova Scotia from CCS sanctioned leagues in Sydney, Truro, Halifax, and Dartmouth.  41 Nova Scotians in total took part in the 2026 Championships, including 3 junior players.

Successes were highlighted by Joanne Kandler, who finished 1st in the Standard Division of the Women’s 8-Ball Singles, earning $800 and a return entry to next year’s championship.  The division of 32 ladies had a bevy of 11 NS players competing, with a handful finishing in the money.  Kandler defeated Ainsley Denny in the final, placing Denny as runner-up for $550.   Sunshine Bernard was third ($400), and Kim Hobbs was 5th-6th ($200).

Scotch Doubles 8-Ball play brought two more runner-up finishes for Nova Scotia.  Ainsley Denny duplicated an appearance in a final, this time with partner Mike Basque, in the Open/Advanced Doubles event, earning $450 for 2nd place among 17 pairings.  Sue and Les Dupuis earned a podium finish themselves in the Standard Doubles division of 19 duos challenging, taking home $500.

In the Open/Advanced 8-Ball Teams division, team Pitewey, consisting of Peter Doucette, Wek Augustine, Evan Paul, and Ryan Kendall, took home $1200 for 3rd place among a field of 43 teams.

In Women’s Standard 8-Ball Teams division, team Vibe Tribe, consisting of Lynn Gould, Nia Joe, Erin Mooney, Joanne Kandler and Sunshine Bernard, took home $400 for 3rd place among a field of 15 teams.

In the Women’s 9-Ball Teams division, team Lady Bankers, consisting of Kim Hobbs, Chris Oickle, Mary Anne Corkum, and Sue Dupuis, took home $200 for 3rd place among a field of 8 teams.

In Mixed Standard 8-Ball Teams division, team Long Shots, consisting of Bafex Teemane, Cal Boudreau, Ainsley Denny, and Jim Sheppard, took home $400 for 5th/6th place among a field of 41 teams.

In 9-Ball Teams, two NS teams finished 7th-8th place for $200 a piece among 43 teams.  Team IQ Billiards had members Peter Thompson, Shaun Campbell, Tyler Whidden, and Colin Maloney.  Team Pitewey 2.0 had Ryan Kendall, Evan Paul, Wek Augustine, and Peter Doucette.

In Mixed Open/Advanced 8-Ball Singles, Richard Young had the highest NS finish, placing 7th-8th out of 83 players, good for $300.  Joll Mooney finished in 9th-12th place for $200.  Terrence Sylliboy, Peter Doucette, and Wek Augustine, all finished in 17th-24th place for $75 each.

In Mixed 9-Ball Singles, Wek Augustine placed 9th-12th for $150 in a field of 78 players. Peter Doucette placed 13th-16th for $100.

In Mixed Standard 8-Ball Singles, Kevin Connors finished in 13th-16th place for $75 among 60 players.

Each event had a second chance event for players that did not cash in the main events.  In Women’s Standard 8-Ball Second Chance, Team Lady Bankers took first place among 11 teams, earning $200.  The team consisted of Kim Hobbs, Mary Anne Corkum, Sue Dupuis, and Chris Oickle.

In Women’s 9-Ball Singles Second Chance, Anjilin Denny placed 1st out of 11 players for $100.
