Last night was the final tournament at Rockingham for our first session of the Sunday Super Series. Many were tired from a long day at the MPL 2-point tournament prior, but the tournament had to go on!
Percy Gouchie did a great job in thanking all the Doolys staff, players, and other important figures in getting this league up and running, so I'll keep mine short. Thanks to Percy, Brian's Cuesport Streams , Ashley Theriault , Jen Reid , Tracey Goodyear for everything they've done!! Season 1 was a great success!!!
Our two final tournaments kicked off yesterday, a little later at Rockingham as my truck wouldn't start, great day for it right? Our 2nd chance tournament consisted of Mike Cullymore, Jay Hanlon, Riley Macdonald, and Chen Qing. Congratulations to Mike after a slow start, pulling through with wins over Jay, and Chen in the finals, to take home the $200 prize!
The main tournament began Friday night knocking 4 to the B side early, while play continued Sunday morning. 7th/8th making back some of their original investments were Craig Teal and Robert Williams, they played well during regular season but got some unlucky rolls yesterday.
Our 5th-6th finishers were Cal Boudreau and Nick Villano. Cal was one of our two 7-handicap players and had a fantastic season upsetting a few higher handicapped players. Well done Cal!!! Nick Villano played phenomenal too and came 3rd overall in our round robin. Jheno Francisco topped Nick, and Eric Bonneau took out Cal to set our final 4. Let the big money games continue!
Eric and Jheno had a rematch, with the first A side match coming down to the wire with an 11-9 victory for Eric, Jheno was out for revenge and he got it. The audience was sweating just as much as Eric was, as he watched Jheno come back for an 11-9 victory and gain his revenge. Eric still had a strong showing winning 2 matches and losing 2. The 4th place finish is something anyone can be proud of.
The final match on the A side, came down to the two titans at Rockingham. Yes, you guessed it, Kyle Richard and Colin MacDonald. Both finished top 5 in the regular season with few losses, and this was the most intense match of the day! Whoever won this secured a minimum of $1000, and they made it to the driver seat for the finals. This match was dominated at first by Kyle who took surging lead at the beginning, but Colin pulled out his inner dragon and brought it to hill-hill. Colin broke dry and Kyle, ran it down for the win. Kyle capitalized and secured his position in the finals.
The 2nd/3rd place match was between Kyle and Jheno, which was a grudge match, both playing all day Saturday and Sunday, the pool game slowly got harder and harder. Colin had a steady lead of 4 games or more for some time until Jheno gave up. Can't blame him for needing rest. Big congrats to Jheno who came 3rd place, even after raising his handicap for the playoffs!!
We made it! The big game everyone has been waiting for! Colin and Kyle in the finals! Colin needed to win twice to beat Kyle. Because of the start time and the fact that Colin "the grinder” Macdonald was at 28 hrs in the pool room over the 2 days, they agreed to play 2 races to 3 for the title. Kyle won the first set and there wasn't a need for a second match. Congrats Kyle!!!

Burnside is filling up quickly, Rockingham I'd pretty much full with a waiting list, and Portland is looking for a couple more.
